"What's so special about
The Prelude Hymnal?"
We wanted to take the time to mention some of the features we are planning to include in our hymnal, and the great news is — we’re not done thinking of new features to add!
Spiral Bound
For those who purchase a hard copy of The Prelude Hymnal, you’ll be pleased to find that we did not leave out the most essential feature of any music book – usability! Hardcover hymnals often result in “hymn slideshows,” with pages that fly by uninvited as the pianist plays. Our spiral-binding will prevent this occurrence and keep the selected page securely in view.
E-Book Version
As you may have noticed, we specified in the last feature that those who purchase a hard copy of our hymnal will enjoy the spiral binding. We’re here to answer the lingering question in your mind – YES! We will be offering an e-book version for both our international friends and our extra-creative friends who might like to organize their hymnal in their very own way.
Organized by Key
Any piano teacher’s dream — the work of selecting a suitable new hymn for your beginner-level student is halfway done! Our hymns will also be listed progressively from four flats (Ab Major) to two sharps (D Major).
Topical and Keyword Index
The general consensus among the pianists in our circle is that indexes in existing hymnals don’t quite cut it! Not only will hymns and songs be listed by topic in our index, but we also plan to add a section specific to key words often found in hymns, such as “forever,” “found,” and “friend,” just like you would find in a concordance.
Large Print
We seek to provide our patrons with large, easy-to-read notes. Being able to read the correct notes is essential to a pianist’s ability to play the correct accompaniment. Our hymnal is printed on full-sized 8.5″ by 11″ paper, allowing extra room for musicians to pencil in additions and reminders.
Public Domain
Though it will limit the number of hymns and Gospel songs we will be able to include in The Prelude Hymnal, a hymnal solely based on public domain music gives our users peace-of-mind when it comes to copyright infringement. Whether you use our hymnal for writing your own arrangements, live-streaming services, music recordings, or otherwise, our intent is that our hymnal is as ministry-friendly as possible. Out of respect for the time and expenses taken to produce and assemble this hymnal, we do ask that our patrons adhere to our duplication policy when it comes to tangible reproduction of our hymnal.
